This is an upgrade part – Viton O-ring capable of operating temperatures from -25*C to +200*C. We have found even brand new “OEM” seals do not always last for long (see Pic 1, new seal fitted 6 months prior). These O-rings are slightly thicker and made from Viton rubber, which is good for up to 200*C – much higher than any temps likely to be seen where the camshaft seal sits and much higher than any nitrile equivalent.
The front camshaft oil seal is designed to pop out with excessive crankcase pressure. We strongly advise against the fitment of anything that forces a permanent seal, even if a breather is fitted. Fitment of any such device may result in serious engine damage.
Fitting: These O rings are slightly thicker than the originals and will be a tight fit – they do fit! Use a smear of O ring grease or similar to help it in. If the plastic cover plate is particularly worn or distorted then purchase a new LDI100030 and discard the O ring on it replacing with the upgraded one.
