Revotec air conditioning fan suitable for Discovery 2. Equivalent to Land Rover JRP100060. Your existing electrical connector can be reused and transferred to the new unit, or you can use a generic waterproof plug and connector.
As well as being used with the air conditioning these fans are also operated by the ECU to come on to prevent severe overheating. You will know this has been triggered as the fan will run continuously when the ignition is on until the fault code has been cleared.
Why do these always fail?
The simple reason is they are hardly used in the UK so the fan motor seizes up. This in turn often blows the fuse so sometimes replacing the fuse is futile. By design these fans only run when :
For A/C system: When vehicle speed is 50 mph (80 km/h) or less and ambient temperature is 28 °C (82 °F) or more, and goes off when vehicle speed increases to 62.5 mph (100 km/h) or ambient temperature decreases to 25 °C (77 °F)
For engine cooling: it will come on at 110°C and off at 105°C
For engine cooling at ignition off (heat soak): will come on If, within 10 seconds of ignition off, engine coolant temperature is 105 °C (221 °F) or more, and off After 10 minutes or if engine coolant temperature decreases to 100 °C (212 °F). However with no coolant pump running it is likely to run longer.
